Background

[WIP]
Gruuk Espar was born in the Savage Lands, never knowing his motherland of Ohlkun. His brood crossed the Divide to seek new horizons, however when they arrived, they found this new land to be unwelcoming. The brood never tried to enter into the society of man, instead the brood, as well as a few others, took to the Savage Lands as nomads.
Growing up, Gruuk was taught early how to mount a horse and wield a blade. They made a living by raiding travelers that passed to and from various outposts in order to stay alive. He grew up fighting for his due, but during one reckless raid, his life changed forever.
Apparently, word about savage orcs raiding caravans reached a group of Elven slave-traders, who knew that they could fetch a pretty penny selling off a fit Orc at market. Gruuk was the unfortunate soul of being left alive after the ambush had been sprung on the raiders, and they would remind him of that daily.
Humiliated, beaten, and scarred during the journey to auction which turned the young Orc bitter and spiteful. Gruuk was eventually sold in an unfamiliar city to a Dwarven Blacksmith by the name of Biswin. Gruuk held resentment at first towards the elderly and often drunk dwarf, but soon grew to respect the blacksmith as he grew fascinated with the forge. It was this fascination that kept him from escaping, which he could have easily done.
Biswin treated Gruuk as an apprentice and not a slave laborer, making a deal with Gruuk that if he could forge a better blade than him, he would give Gruuk his freedom. Days turned to months, and months to years before the Orc could forge something as fine as Dwarven steel, but before he could complete the bet, Biswin passed away. In his last testament, the Dwarf renounced his claim to Gruuk.
Gruuk, being the only "family" the old dwarf had, inherited the forge to continue his work.
